People continue to spend large dollar amounts on weight loss diets and supplements. The reason for this is straightforward: we are all looking for loopholes…

…hmmm, how can I eat more, exercise less, and lose weight? No one can.

However, by entertaining this question, we are opening ourselves up to all manners of spurious and expensive methods for miracle weight loss. We must accept that there are no miracles. We must lose weight with focused discipline and commitment to the proper lifestyle for a lifetime.

Supplement quality update:
Starting this summer the FDA will have enforcement capabilities within the supplement industry.

This is an important and needed change. Up until now, supplement manufacturing has been like the wild, wild west. That is, there have been no laws and no enforcement regarding manufacturing behavior. Quality claims are abundant, but it is common to find that supplement pills are not digested properly and also lack the ingredients listed on the bottle. The new law gives the FDA power to go after manufacturers that do not adhere to the new Good Manufacturing Practices for nutritional supplements.
